# Introduction

Collect is an open-source project created for the sole purpose of simplifying the process of collecting, sharing and visualizing spatial data. It was initiated in the year 2021 as an internal project at GeoPsy Research but open-sourced a year later. The project does not, in any way, try to compete with <https://getodk.org/>. Rather Collect tries to solve the shortcomings of ODK while also introducing an alternative source of data collection.
